here are many people familiar with the old adage: “You are what you eat!”, but these days, I’m starting to hear a new one:  “You are what you tweet!”

or a few years, Matchmaker has been registered with Facebook and Linked In and Twitter, but we haven’t been active users.  This week, however, we made the switch, updating our accounts to reflect our new name, Matchmaker Logistics, and pledging to become regular participants in these social media conversations.

View our profile on LinkedIn getting ourselves ‘psyched up’ for this new venture, we stumbled across a great article in Time magazine, Why Facebook is for Old Fogies.  The author explains why it is the perfect platform for those he calls “middle-aged”.  I can especially relate to reasons #3 and #8.

 Why belong to more than one social media group?  I was told:  “LinkedIn is for people you know. Facebook is for people you used to know. Twitter is for people you want to know.”  Another person explained it this way:  “Twitter is like a coffee shop or bar, Facebook is like your living room, and LinkedIn is the Chamber of Commerce.”

No matter how you look at it, social media is here to stay.  As social media expert Barry Roos said:  “”To ignore social media would be like early man ignoring fire.”
