Batman’s Source of Transportation

The Batman of TransportationThere’s something about the look that’s key when it comes to being a superhero. Diving off rooftops and chasing down bad guys in your plainclothes is likely to raise eyebrows and alarm, but there’s something about a superhero costume that inspires respect.

We can’t get enough of superhero style at the Matchmaker HQ lately, so we got artist Ramie Buena – whose work you may recognize from the Matchmaker Logistics comic book – to draw us some super suits of our very own (that’s mine on the right!). We’ll be using these avatars as our new email signatures, so keep your eyes peeled for capes and tights next week!

Occasionally, we come across others who successfully turn their superhero fantasies into their jobs. Meet the Lamborghini Batman, who became an internet sensation a few years ago after pictures of him getting pulled over by the cops went viral. In head-to-toe movie-quality Batman gear, this Batman even comes with the best Bat-gadget of all – a Batmobile in the form of a black Lamborghini Gallardo Spider.

Speculation started right away – who was this masked man? And what was he doing to get in trouble with the cops? Was he speeding on his way to stop the Joker from poisoning the water main, or was he just some rich guy on his way to a costume party? The truth was even better:

Batmans TransportationThe ‘Lamborghini Batman’ is not Bruce Wayne, his name is Lenny Robinson, and he’s not out to beat up bad guys. Instead, he goes to hospitals all over the country in his costume, visiting sick kids and families and encouraging them to fight on. He typically doesn’t seek attention from anyone but the little Robins he’s visiting, but when he was stopped by the police for failing to display the proper tags on his Batmobile, people (including the cops who stopped him) couldn’t help but snap pictures.

He’s not part of any larger organization, nor is Lenny ever paid for his appearances – to him, it’s all part of being a superhero. “I don’t do it to become famous, I do it for the kids,” Lenny told Jalopnik.com. “They mean more to me than anything.”

It’s a good reminder – the best gadget a superhero can come equipped with isn’t a car or a costume – it’s a big heart.

We’re lucky enough to know a big-hearted superhero of our very own among our extended Matchmaker family. Next week, we’ll introduce you to him. Meanwhile…

Don’t get your cape caught in the car door this weekend,
