Why We Are Radiating Positivity At Matchmaker This Year

Each year, the Matchmaker Logistics team creates a mantra to focus our group for the year ahead. For 2018, we chose “Radiate Positivity.” Now for a 3PL broker, this might sound a little like: “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” but I assure you – thinking positive has big rewards!

According to a TED Talk by positive psychology expert Shawn Achor (a 12-minute “must watch” if you ask me), when it comes to determining happiness, the things we think would make a person happy – fast cars, big paychecks, even a glowing family – don’t necessarily mean a person is happy. In fact, 90% of the factors that determine happiness are internal, and they start with positive thinking.

Quantum physicists know this – observing and placing intentions on particles and waves can cause them to physically change on a molecular level! Most of us remember high school biology, where saying pleasant words and playing soothing music to a sprout resulted in a bright, lush plant, while heavy metal drums and cruel words resulted in a sick-looking, sad plant.

Japanese scientist Masamaru Emoto was well-known for his experiments with water, wherein ice crystals were examined by a panel of subjects and evaluated on their aesthetic value. (I wonder myself, how do you sign up for sitting in a room and telling the scientists which snowflakes are prettiest? Sounds like fun!) Astoundingly, the crystals that regularly won the beauty contests were the ones who had been played “healing music” and soft vibrations. Ice crystals exposed to statements such as “I hate you” were mangled and ill-formed.

positivity

Now, I’m not saying we all stop working hard and instead just think good thoughts at our ice cubes. The leads in this field all agree – positive thinking is pretty useless without some positive action. Or as I like to say – you can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket.

If you’re still not convinced to try tackling 2018 with positive thought, allow me to present one final argument: the case of Shane Missler, the recent $451 million dollar Florida PowerBall jackpot winner. When asked for a statement, Shane said: “If there is one thing I have learned thus far in my short time on this earth it is that those who maintain a positive mind-set and stay true to themselves get rewarded.”

The odds of winning the jackpot were about one in 302 million, but that didn’t stop Shane from trying. He even went on to add: he had a good “feeling” when he bought it.

Happy Monday,
