Ever Been Jilted by a “One-Night Stand”?

Although the majority of freight brokers in our industry run respectable operations, unfortunately there is also a subset of fly-by-night companies that don’t play nicely.  We call them “one-night-stands” because they leave customers and clients feeling jilted.   Recently, we stumbled upon this product commercial on YouTube, and we couldn’t help but laugh.  When it comes to dating, lighting may be ‘everything’, but when it comes to freight brokerage, we believe experience, customer service and integrity are what count!

We’re Not a Cheap Date: Episode I

One of our subcontractors told us a story about how her father was such a cheap date, he used to make his girlfriends hide in the trunk of his car so he only had to pay for one ticket at the entrance to the drive-in theater instead of two!    At Matchmaker, we approach every business transaction with a commitment to a long-term relationship; we don’t believe in acting like a cheap date, a casual fling, or one-night stand.

Partnerships in Challenging Times

Matchmaker President Jim Skane describes how the worst of economic times have brought out the best in his partnerships. One of the intangible benefits of challenging times is the strengthening of relationships. While in a state of success and abundance, it is easy to become complacent, seemingly self-sufficient, and perhaps focused on individual achievement. Matchmaker, like many others, has been impacted by the economic downturn. We have been forced to make difficult choices and to reevaluate how we provide value to our customers and to each other. Beneficially, our partnerships both externally and internally have

Community Involvement

Matchmaker stands by our commitment to the community. We recently made donations to the following non-profit agencies: Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM) completes home repairs for low income homeowners, mostly widows and disabled individuals. WARM organizes volunteers to complete most of the repairs and raises funds for building materials. Typical projects include roof repairs, plumbing and electrical system upgrades, wheelchair ramp construction, appliance installation and floor repairs. Good Shepherd Center feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless, and provides support to those in crisis. Their shelter is open every day of the year. The staff

At Matchmaker Logistics, we are striving to do our part to reduce fuel consumption and improve our air quality for future generations. In 2004, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) created a great tool to allow both asset and non-asset based companies to contribute
