Matchmaker is packing its bags! We’re on our way to the 20th Annual NASTC (National Association of Small Trucking Companies) Conference in mid-November. At the conference, we work to renew and strengthen relationships with the industry’s best carriers (2600+ members to date) while vetting new companies to join our team.
Former Tennessee senator (and actor) Fred Thompson will be the keynote speaker. If the title of his book, Teaching the Pig to Dance, is any indication, it’s sure to be an interesting speech! The title comes from Thompson’s
early years in school where he was a less than stellar scholar. “Teaching Latin to someone like me,” he says, “was like trying to teach a pig to dance. It’s a waste of the teacher’s time and it irritates the pig.”
Folk humor aside, NASTC sponsors several initiatives that are no laughing matter:
The association honors NASTC Drivers of the Year (industry veterans with safe driving records and exemplary conduct); it operates as a consortium for trucking companies; and it allows select brokers (like us) to broaden our carrier base in a careful, responsible, relationship-driven way.
Our participation in NASTC is just one more way that Matchmaker works to keep your freight moving on the road to success. Like our fellow NASTC members, we’re committed to safety, compliance and technological advancements that improve and simplify the transportation industry.
