Carriers as Customers

At Matchmaker Logistics, we have always viewed the carriers we work with as customers.  Our founder, Jim Skane Sr., always emphasized that without the carriers we had no business.  We believe that by building relationships with quality carriers and earning their confidence, we become better able to service our shipping customers.  We strive to go beyond “The Golden Rule” and continually search for ways to make our service more valuable to the carriers that rely on us to load their trucks.

That Was Easy!

For example, at Matchmaker, we use the Aljex software system which allows us to effectively communicate with carriers in several ways.  By setting up carrier profiles with preferred lanes and equipment types, we can easily send an email or fax when appropriate loads come available.  Carriers can go to our website and check on payment status of their invoice and search our available load database.  The system allows us to record and pull together all the critical information regarding a load so we can present it to the carrier in an easy-to-read format.  We can even auto-send an email notification to your accounting department when a check has been issued.

Show Me the Money!

At Matchmaker, we understand that carriers have to pay drivers, fuel, truck payments, repairs etc…  These bills must be paid promptly to keep the trucks on the road.  We are always looking for ways to shorten the timeline between delivery and payment.  We have multiple quick pay options.  We recently signed on to the TRANSFLO Express system which allows carriers to scan and upload their invoices and POD’s directly into our system, saving both time and money.  We are currently polling many of our regular carriers to determine if paying carriers by ACH (direct deposit) will be practical.

These are just a few of the things that we are doing to make Matchmaker a more carrier-friendly organization.  We feel that it is this “Carriers as Customers” philosophy earned us the “Broker of the Year” designation from the National Association of Small Trucking Companies.

We will continue to look for ways to improve our organization in the years ahead.  Please let us know if you have suggestions or comments regarding our service.
