Last week, I told you about our annual Family Spring Cleaning weekend, but I didn’t tell the whole story. Remember that song “What a Difference a Day Makes…Twenty-Four Little Hours?” Last weekend, it took just eight hours to create a massive transformation around the house. We started at 9am and by 6pm, we had washed the entire house from top to bottom, cleaned out the garage, installed a light over our pool table, changed six exterior flood lights (using an 11′-foot pole extender and a borrowed 30′-foot extension ladder), installed a new bathroom light fixture, cleaned the ceiling fan lights on the front porch, replaced the bulbs, and more.
By the end of the afternoon, I was humming “You Light Up My Life,” as many of those lighting projects had been on my Honey Do List for months! There was just one thing missing….I wanted ferns to hang on the front porch before friends came over for a barbecue later that evening. I begged my husband to head on over to the store and pick me up a few ferns as the crowning glory to our newly spruced up porch. But my hubby had had enough. He told me he’d rather: give me a pedicure, swallow a battery, do our son’s algebra homework, or shave his elbow skin than head to the store to buy ferns.
Eventually, though, my sweet husband changed his tune to “The Things We Do For Love.” That night, when our friends arrived for dinner, my porch looked gorgeous thanks to those ferns. The soundtrack for my day of Spring Cleaning got me to thinking about some of my favorite country music song titles. Here’s my Top Ten:
10. Get Your Biscuits in The Oven and Your Buns in the Bed
9. Her Teeth Were Stained, But Her Heart Was Pure
8. How Can I Miss You If You Won’t Go Away?
7. How Can You Believe Me When I Say I Love You, When You Know I’ve Been a Liar All My Life?
6. I’m So Miserable Without You, It’s Almost Like Having You Here
5. If I Shot You When I Wanted To, I’d Be Out By Now
4. If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, You’ll Know It’s Me
3. If I Can’t Be Number One in Your Life, Then Number Two On You
2. If Love Were Oil, I’d Be a Quart Low
and finally, this one which is definitely worth watching on YouTube:
1. If My Nose Was Running Money, I’d Blow It All On You
Which song titles tickle your fancy? Which ones best describe what’s happening in your life these days? I’d love to know. Email me or join our conversation about great song titles on Facebook and Twitter this week.
