Ask any one of our Carrier Sales Representatives what they like most about their jobs and the first thing they’ll mention is: “The relationships we have with the drivers.”
There are some incredible men and women out there on the road. Many of them go the extra mile to make our lives better, and we’re thrilled when we can give a little something back in return.
In early March, our Project Manager, Tammy Brown, was booking a driving duo for their very first load with our company. She learned that Tim (the driver) and Brenda had been on the road together for five years. Brenda doesn’t drive, but she rides with Tim and keeps him on track by processing his paperwork, taking care of bookings, and handling check-in calls. Brenda shared that Tim had proposed in January and they were thinking about getting married in Las Vegas the next time they were out that way.
The couple did an outstanding job with their first Matchmaker Logistics load, earning Tim a nomination (and the eventual win) for our March Driver of the Month Award. A few weeks later, Brenda asked Tammy if Matchmaker had any loads out of Nevada. We had one, and Tim and Brenda wanted to take it. Tammy couldn’t resist asking: “Are you going to get married since you will be so close to Vegas?” Since they had an extra day before their scheduled delivery, the couple responded with a resounding “Yes!”
Tim and Brenda were married at the Chapel of Love in Las Vegas on March 21st. Later that day, Brenda won $100.00 at the slot machines. Before heading to their honeymoon back home in Pennsylvania (their first two-week vacation in years), the couple was kind enough to send a few photos for our team to enjoy. As Tim dipped Brenda for the camera, the photographer asked: “Have you ever dipped her before?” Tim quipped back: “In what?”
After the honeymoon, we’ll be putting the happy newlyweds back to work in the same lane for our very satisfied shipper. Meanwhile, we’re delighted that in this instance we truly lived up to our name: “Matchmaker Logistics!”
Dip Your Darling This Weekend,
~Bob
