Strengthening the Safety Net

I’ve written before about how theft is rampant in our business. While I’ve joked about a few criminals who aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, the truth is that many of the felons targeting cargo-filled trucks are running sophisticated operations. Staying on top of the latest scams can be a full-time job.

This video discusses nearly a dozen of the precautions we at Matchmaker Logistics take to protect our shippers from fraud. I believe that one’s safety net can never be too strong, which is exactly why we recently signed on with CargoNet.

Created in 2009, CargoNet works to prevent cargo theft and increase recovery rates by disseminating information to those of us in the business in real time, so we always know what we’re up against. CargoNet is directly plugged in to the nation’s police database, and boasts a 24/7/365 support center that sends out local and national crime alerts, safety tips, theft trends and reports, and safety education webinars and guides. This extra layer of defense gives us an edge when it comes to staying safe, a benefit we’re proud to pass on to our shipping customers.

CargoNet -along with all the other precautions we employ- provides a stronger safety net so we can do our job as quickly, efficiently, and securely as possible. It’s a lot more than I can say about some people, who prefer to work and live on the wild side. Apparently these folks didn’t feel the need for a safety net. While their acts of “bravery” may be amusing, they are by no means inspiring:
