If you’re struggling to find a reason to smile this morning, you are not alone. According to British researchers, Monday mornings are so depressing that, on average, we don’t crack our first smile until 11:16 a.m. That early???
In my first installment of Just Another Mary Monday, I figured it was my duty to make sure you hit that target today. A couple of Fridays ago, our company President, Bob, shared an “out of the mouths of babes” moment he had with his daughter. His email prompted a friend to send a joke that quickly circulated through the Matchmaker Logistics office. It made us laugh, and I hope it does the same for you:
Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved her doggie named Bella. One day, she asked her mother: “May I take the Bella for a walk around the block?”
Her Mom replied: “No, because she is in heat.”
“What does that mean?” asked the child.
“Go ask your father. I think he’s in the garage.”
The little girl headed to the garage: “Daddy, may I take Bella for a walk around the block? I asked Mom, but she said because my doggie is in heat, I had to come ask you. Please, Daddy. I really, really want to take her.”
The young girl’s father said, “Okay, but first bring Bella over here.” He took a rag, soaked it with a little gasoline, and dabbed the dog’s backside with the rag to disguise her scent. “Now,” he instructed her, “you can go, but keep Bella on the leash and only go one time around the block.”
His little girl left and returned a few minutes later minus her dog. Surprised, her Dad asked, “Where’s Bella?” His daughter shrugged and replied: “She ran out of gas about halfway down the block, so another dog is pushing her home.”
