Office Manager (Extension 100)
Shelly Hamler grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia. And, unbeknownst to her, so did her future husband. Although they lived in the same town and even attended the same elementary school, they didn’t meet until they both went to the same college! Shelly attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Teaching. After two years of teaching in an inner-city elementary school, Shelly decided to change career paths, working in a small business where she handled everything from customer service to payroll processing.
Shelly first visited Wilmington, NC on a fated St. Patrick’s Day as her then fiancé interviewed for a job opportunity. Months later, when the couple moved to the area, Shelly responded to Matchmaker Logistics’ ad for an Assistant and was hired by the end of the day. Talk about the Luck of the Irish!
When she’s not processing payroll or updating the HR manual, Shelly enjoys spending time with her husband, Scott, and their two lab-mix dogs, Honey and Sparr. They love to travel, taking short trips to other states like Colorado, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Closer to home, which is currently Albany, NY, the couple also enjoys watching movies and hiking. Shelly also reads and paints. She says: “Prior to taking this position, I never thought about how crucial the transportation industry is to our everyday lives. Now, I find myself thinking about everything in terms of logistics!”
