The last time I wrote y’all, I told you I was credit card debt-free. Lest you think I’ve made a complete Dave Ramsey-inspired turnaround, let me tell you about my recent trip to Las Vegas, where, yes, I played in another pool tournament and lost.
I also lost in the casino. You see, I got pulled in by the charismatic charm of a blackjack dealer who was so magnetic, so fun, so entertaining, I couldn’t pry myself away from her table. She just had one of those personalities – everybody wanted to be near her, including me.
I won’t tell you how much I lost (Oh…hi, honey! Thank you for being such a great husband and always reading my posts. Yes, that’s right, I only had $40 worth of gambling fun.).
But to quote another charismatic lady, comedian Whitney Cummings: “Vegas is like marriage. It’s really exciting in the beginning but then after a while you’re like, ‘What happened to all my money?'”
So, yeah, I started the evening out saying “Viva Las Vegas!” but by the end of the night, I was crying: “Viva Lost Wages!” I should have listened to my Daddy who always said: “The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.” Still, I may be…ahem…$40 dollars poorer, but I did have a great time.
And, things turned out a lot better for me than they did for the guy sitting next to me. Marty* gambled his car away. As he got up from the table he said: “The people at Hertz are going to be absolutely furious!”
Happy Monday,
